How to Install Modular Bar Equipment
Modular bar equipment is an important part of many commercial, industrial, and home bars. Whether used for business or pleasure, these are going to be a vital part of anyone’s setup. Knowing the steps to take to insure you install these correctly the first time generally starts with a set of instructions, but knowing the order to follow those instructions will make the installation process run a lot smoother.
The first step is knowing the utility spec of your modular bar equipment. This will generally have the electrical and plumbing specifications. Be sure to install the electrical and plumbing according to local code. The instructions you will receive for installation do not always know the finer details of local code. Be sure you are aware of the codes in your area.
Floor sink location is important, and again, must meet or exceed local code. Generally, the modular bar equipment will have multiple options for where the floor sink can be. When you know where it should be for your local code, you will be able to proceed with the instructions. Generally, the directions will have the variety of options listed for ease.
Uncrating your modular bar equipment is easy. Generally, you will start by removing the skids located underneath the device. The directions will have more details depending on the manufacturer and model you choose. If in question, contact the manufacturer for more details on the proper method of uncrating your new piece of equipment.
Place the section in its appropriate location. Be sure to watch where the beverage line will go so you do not pinch or break the line when fully completed. In addition, you will want to insure the electrical and plumbing are all easily attached. Another thing to watch for is the electrical rough-in stubs. The conduits should be easily reached with the appropriate space around the new modular bar.
Once the pieces are properly placed, you will want to attach the pieces loosely. You will want to find out if it is attached from left to right or from right to left. Do not tighten the connectors or screws completely at this point. Instead, get them in the right placement, but be sure to leave it loose incase you have to change the position.
Using steel or wood shims, level the various bar sections. Generally, the structure must be completely level in order to fit properly. Gaps will be taken care of in a later section. Once leveled, join the steel modules together appropriately. Seal section with caulking approved by the NSF.
Attach the structure to the floor inserting temporarily the freestanding pieces. This will insure a proper fit. Attach the die to the floor via the bottom plate holds, and then you get to choose which method is best for fastening the modular bar equipment to the floor. If in question, hire a contractor that will insure you are following local code.
Installing beer lines, utility lines, and those little extras will depend a great deal on the type of modular bar equipment you purchase. But always remember to play it safe and call a contractor if you are unsure of the instructions or directions.
